Maybe you had the only one the tournament scale didn't weigh wrong. The truth is you had 6-8 teams there that fish a lot of tournaments, and know how close there personal scales are to being accurate. And all 6-8 of them will tell you the tournament scale was off the customary 2%-7% PLUS A POUND.
I talked to the weigh master about it and his explanation was the scale would weigh the same for everyone. True , but that doesn't account for the dozen "3 pound" fish on the way to the taxidermist that should have been released.
I bet it was taxidermy union that snuck in and set the scales wrong just to get business...![]()

They weighed heavy and it was a honest mistake. I saw some throw there "taxidermy fish" into the tank after the word was out about the heavy weights. Some good healthy fish brought to the ramp anyhow. I wish we had a tank at all corps lakes.
There is a scale calibration place in West Memphis or Memphis--can't remember which--our warehouse and shop uses them.
Maybe the scales need re-calibrated?
