    Default Short trip to Cypress

Made a 3 hour trip out there and fished jigs around the Park Road launch. Caught 2 throwbacks and 2 "sort of " keepers. Blk/Chart jig near the bottom, in 16-17 fow. Two other guys in a boat had 4 about the same size and gave them to me when they were leaving. When it started sprinkling, it was a mass exodus to the ramp...must have been 8-10 boats all waiting to get out at the same time. I was heading out because it was cold and I had stuff to do.

Was one guy there, cleaning his fish off the side of an old jon boat while waiting to load up. Said he had 20, and I could see some were nice size, but he was using shiners. Most people didn't do much. Still good to get out there again though. Trips are too few and too far between!

    Scott:
If we filled the box every time we went it would be called catching instead of fishing. Good report and go get them whenever you get another chance.

Be careful in cleaning fish on the water, you could get in trouble with the GW.

    From the La. reg. booklet.

No person shall possess filleted fish while aboard a vessel in freshwater. However, for the

purpose of consumption, a person shall have no more than 2 pounds of filleted finfish per
person on board a vessel in freshwater

Wasn't me Gene, but I hear what you're saying. Looked like he was gutting them when I went by... so maybe he didn't actually take them all the way to fillet stage. Good to keep those regs in mind though.

I don't know but I would say you could get away with scaling and gutting but I wouldn't take them any further than that. This way the GW an still check the length if he choses to do so.

Glad you got out Scott, I'ts good for the soul. I've got so many projects going right now it's pitiful but on my days off I always check the weather and I make it a priority to take that fishing day, or two. Cindy supports me 100% on this seeing as how most of those projects are her's!!

There are two things to aim for in life: First, to get what you want; and after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieves the second. Author unknown, but I like it!

Well, we just moved recently...(about a month and a half) and still trying to get the last stuff out of boxes, and pictures hung on walls, and with the weather warming up, we've got some yard clean up work to do....on top of that, my sister is now planning her wedding in our back yard in 2 weeks, so the presssure is really on!!! Given how lousy I did Saturday, I probably should have stayed home and worked on the list. But, I took those 6 small ones, bought some shrimp, and we enjoyed a good meal that night. Hope I can go often enough to catch them biting sometime and put some meat up for when we want some fish. I hate having to buy some at the store as it's never as good as what I catch fresh.
