Heading to Clarks Hill
Hitting Clarks Hill tomorrow and Saturday for the first time. I've never laid eyes on it but love the challenge of fishing new water each year. I figured I'd stay in the middle section of the lake and was planning on fishing around the Little River on the SC side quite a bit. Looks like with all this rain that the water will be pretty muddy up in the creeks, just curious how that will effect the fish. I've caught crappie in West TN lakes that looked like chocolate milk and I've caught em in water with 20 ft visibility. My experience is that how they react depends on what they are used to on that particular body of water. I'd imagine that finding some clearer water out on the main lake is easier but the warmer water will be in the creeks probably. Does anybody have any experience on muddy water on Clarks Hill or any advice on how to approach it? Thanks, Tom

Tom, you should be able to find the color water you want to fish....only problem, the fish may not be in that area....Also, I got a feeling with the water temp already dropping and this cold rain is going to drop it even further...well, it will affect the fish. Watch your electronics and be prepared to fish more than one technique. They could be hugging the bottom or they may be suspended 10-15'. Hope this helps...let us know how you do.

Cold muddy fresh water is not good on the Hill. Going to have to fish slow and low.

Never got to wet a line at Clark's Hill. We were backing the boat down the ramp when we got the call that my sister was in the ICU. Long story short, she had Strep infection in her leg and we almost lost her. Doc said she wsa 4-6 hrs away from passing if they had not done emergency surgery to drain the infection in her leg. Spent 9 days in a medical coma in ICU but today has been moved to a rehab room to start her recovery. She will make a full recovery and be just fine but don't ever take your health for granted. Had she not been in such good physical shape the doctors said it would be a completely different story. Remember to kiss your loved ones and thank God for what you have. You never know when your day will come so don't sweat the small stuff and be sure to remember how blessed we are. I'll be getting after the crappie next week here in TN but have revenge on my mind for the future at Clarks Hill. Thanks for the information you guys shared with me ahead of my trip and I hope you all limit out!
