I'm just curious if anyone takes their boats out in the Oklahoma winds? and if it affects your fishing at all .

I went out on oologah today wind was brutal. Like hat55 said fish in the wind or don't fish. A couple good anchors don't hurt.
If the wind ain't blowin You are probably not in Okla. Welcome aboard Dirtdigger
Your right hat I only used it twice last year and I was headed out this morning and felt that wind and
Changed my mind when iI seen the trees moving . I find it hard to fish in the winds I don't know if all the
Lakes are like the two I visit hefner and arcadia. Hefners terrible when the wind blows south and to me arcadia sucks with any wind . I don't know if its because of no wind blocks or what but I get freaked out in these winds in a boat
I always check the hourly weather graph to see what times, speed and direction the wind will be blowing. the others are right about the wind always blowing in Oklahoma. I fish from a 1983 Lowes that is 17 ft long and about 4 ft wide. I will fish in winds up to 20 mph if they are biting good, if winds are predicted to be gusting to 25 mph I will not launch. Fish what is comfortable to you and err on the side of caution. Happy fishing.

I agree with everyone above, if you want to fish in ok your gonna battle the wind! Best bet is to use terrain for a wind break, that helps a lot! Doubt that will help on Hefner!

As we pilots say, it's better to be down here, wishing you were up there, than being up there wish you were down .here!! Only fish when you feel safe. There will usually always be another day.
Choose all your fishing areas wisely. Have several that you can fish no matter what the wind direction is. Choosing a ramp is just as important, can you safely get to the area that's out of the wind? Different lakes, different ramps is the key so that you can fish most any day.
Reaper, Where Fish come to Fry
