Thread: Advice on buying new Humminbird fishfinders

Im looking at getting the new 859 ci di and the new 899 si and was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on how those two units would work on my boat. I havent fiqured out why there cheaper than the older models. There has to be some differences somewhere . Any info would be appreciated.

Good deals on 998 hd si right now.... and you can trade in the puck you get with it for $50 for the heading sensor puck. If you buy the 899 or 999 you have to pay the entire $200 for the heading sensor. It isn't required, I don't have one. But wish I did. If you watch e-bay you can pick up a 998 hd si for just over 1000 trade in the puck for the heading sensor puck and have a bigger unit for about the same price. I think everything else is the same but the internal antenna. I think 998 has a bit bigger processor than 898. Not sure though. If you buy the 899 you'll want to trade in the transducer, I'm not sure of the price for the Hd transducer for better results. Just my opinion. The 898 comes with the HD transducer too and a puck you can trade in for 50 like the 998. Lowrance has a good deal on HDS units right now too.... If your a Lowrance guy you can get a HDS 8 with structure scan bundle for 1500. BBG Marine and then get a 300 rebate so final price of 1200. Pretty good deal and a lot of awesome functions. Needless to say I have done a LOT of shopping around before I settled on the HDS 8 Bundle this spring.
