Cumberland Question
Going to Lake Cumberland first wknd in March with a buddy. Never been there before. Not asking for fishing spots but would like to know about how deep to expect them and what kind of spots to look for. Any help would be awesome guys. Thanks.

Well it would help to know what you are fishing for. Stripers will be on points midway in the creeks if we get any kind of warm up. Bass will be staging to go on beds and be 10 to12 feet deep on cover. Crappie will be on any cover it can find for pre-spawn, and walleye will start their night bite. All of this is weather depended

I live at Nancy, God's special country, (it's 15 min. from my garage to afloat) which is just southwest of Somerset. Last March the crappie were spread out in 50 +- degree water on shallow banks, 8 to 12 ' in the head of Fishing, White Oak, Faubush, and Wolf Creeks. I'm retired and fish them all. The fishing was awesome: many 13" some 14" and 15. and others less of course. I'm don't think they were spawning but feeding up before the spawn.
Each year is different and this cold winter will influence the coming bite. You need a contact here to call and if it's me, I'll tell you what I know so you can eliminate, to avoid wasting time in the creek that's not hot.
You've picked a good time to come. I don't think you'll be sorry as Cumberland is a good crappie lake for size of the catch. Green is better for numbers. I'm not a forum expert, don't post much, but I think you can send me a private message so we can contact later.
You don't need to know specific spots to fish but generel areas as they are spread out.
fair weather
ps sometimes they're bitting on the main lake before the creeks.
