    Default Terrova 80 or powerdrive v2 70

So I got a hummingbirdn898 last month now thinking bout gettin a new minn kota with I pilot . I've seen that the terrova and power drive v2 can both come with I pilot . Just which one is better . And on the website it says they have a dual beam transducer. Does anybody have either of these and how well do they work together. Which is better thanks.

Hands down the Terrova is better. Better mounting bracket, easier to launch and stow. When stowed the Terrova shuts off all power the PDv2 does not. Terrova motor is larger. Terrova mounting is quieter when operating. The transducer will not work with Down or Side imaging. It will only work with a 2d finder. Needs a adapter cable to fit your finder that hooks to the trolling motor cable. Also with the Terrova you can use remote and foot pedal. PDv2 with Ipilot is remote only. If the remote dies your out of luck. With the terrova just hook up pedal and keep fishing. Hope this makes sense cause I tend to ramble.

Good list, Cray. My primary reason to replace a PD1 with a Terrova80/iP was reliability. 90% of my fishing is in TMO reservoirs, so my TM has to do a hard day's work every trip. The PD fell apart & wasn't worth the cost of yet another repair. At the recommendation of my repairman, I chose Terrova.

I liked the Terrova so much that after about 100 trips, I bought a "backup" motor--identical to the first Terrova. Based on my experience with flimsy 12v motors, I assumed that Terrova #1 was living on borrowed time.

    Wrong!

After another 75 worry-free trips, #1 started making a noise. Certain that this was the end, I swapped motors, took #1 to my repairman for "last rites", and happily went fishing with #2. A few days later, my repairman called to say that #1 required only a minor adjustment, it should be good for another 200 trips, and his bill was only $15!

Terrova #2 has now delivered 100 flawless trips and #1 is sitting there ready to go back into service if and when it is needed. This pair of motors could be the last TMs I ever need to buy!!

Send me the #1. I won't let it sit in a corner and rust!
