During the hottest part of summer I like to fish the edge of deep grass beds. I use a cricket, #6 hook and add a splitshot about 6" up the line. I position my boat on the edge of the grass bed and tight line the bait straight down off the side of the boat. The water depth is usually between 20 to 30 feet deep. I don't tend to catch very many small fish at these depths.

Weeds and cover for summer and fall fishing. They will be on weed lines and up around boat docks/laydowns looking for shade. Basic 3/4" slip bobber with a #5 split shot and a #6 or #4 aberdeen hook is all you need. I'd hate to be throwing that rig above around any brush or heavy weeds. Looks like $5 worth of tackle!

That's why my rig is kept simple. With the cover I fish - If I get hung up it wont break the bank

pack of hotdogs all you need..put on a slip bobber with split shot, imo the heavier the better, that way it sinks the bobber to the tip, and the slightest nibble will be seen. no big deal though, most of the time they will hammer it anyway.
