    If you buy a new humminbird 1199, I hope you better luck than I've had. Bought an1199 the other day. Third time I used it, black screen. Sent it back to humminbird. They replaced a circuit board and updated software. When they sent it back I tried to go through views but the unit kept rebooting. Called humminbird and they said that they are aware of that and its a software issue. If I'd hide some of the views, it should work. So I get it out today. Worked perfectly for almost an hour. Then it went haywire. Now it won't side scan, down scan, or 2d sonar. Only thing working is GPS. I'm so sick of this thing.

    I have a Lowrance HDS 8 gen1 that keeps rebooting. Lowrance tells me to do a hard reset. Will work that day.

    There aren't enough 1199's out yet to even guess if this is a fluke unit or something in the 1199 series...

    I would stay on the phone with HB about it...

    See if you can return it, and get a new one instead of a "fixed" unit.

    I have a new 1159 and a 1199 that will be getting hooked up next weekend. Hopefully I don't have these issues with them. I just switched to Humminbird after running Lowrance for many many years.

    I hope you don't too. I have a small HB unit on the back. I'm tired of having to ask the guy in the back of the boat whose looking at the $200 unit to tell me what the $2000 unit won't.

    There is an extensive forum over at Bass Boat Central dedicated to HB with experts there always willing and able to help. Give it a look. Probably more help there than any where else.

    I have heard of this before in some software versions...

    If I recall, it was determined to not cycle thru the views as fast...because the repeated quick cycling of the views was locking up the unit...(maybe taxing the processor too much-I don't know)...

    Try slowing down when cycling thru the views....
