Most of these major events don't really have favorites, fishing this time of year, when the fish are in transition, allows every fishermen an opportunity to encounter fish if he/she is in the right spot at the right time. This has been a cold/wet winter, water temps are cold, fish are sluggish to bite. I've only fished once this year, caught two fish out of the two bites I had. Things can change for the better, or for the worst, quickly if the weather changes dramatically to the warmer or colder side. Santee, like all big lakes can be fickle this time of year. Water levels continue to be up and down, winds can play havoc on your fishing areas if they choose to blow hard on this open body of water. There are not many creeks and coves on lake Marion, so good fishermen tend to group up on what ever area becomes active with fish biting activity first. Tournaments in general are 50% skill, and 50% luck. With creels only 7 fish now, some one who lucks into that big bite are two can separate themselves from the pack. To be honest, if I was offered $1,000,000 to go out tomorrow and catch 7 crappie, I'm not so sure I could do it. What I'm trying to say, no one really has any advantage. Tommy and I will fish hard and long, just like every other team paying the $210.00 entry fee. If we get the right bites, we'll be near the top. If we don't, we'll be floundering near the bottom of the leader board. That's just how it is, a game of chance.

Roland, I forgot you and the Red Fox had teamed up. I guess I'll have to put money down on both teams.

I believe it's up to anyone, but not knowing a body of water is definately a disadvantage. I guess we're gonna be pounding Potato and Jacks and hope they are in there.......too much water to try and fish the entire lake and find fish. Historically Potato and Jacks consistantly produce quality fish from the information I have gathered. Sea Ray, I'm no Red Fox! I went to Robert E Lee Academy! I'm a cavalier.......little brother is a fox though, lol
