fugeman,
It's one of my favorite times. Paddle creeks looking for outside edges until you can find some deeper water. Sometime you'll find them staked up.
Saturday I was fishing out in Limestone Bay. Lots of stumps, but normally under 5 feet of water.

jhef,
I have two kayaks now. A 12 foot Old Town Dirigo for rivers and back waters where there is lots of dragging or if I have to carried my kayak in. Weights approx 50 pounds. The "new" kayak is a Native Ultimate 12. I'll be using it for the main lake areas. Easier to get in and out of and very stable, but weighs about 65 pounds.

Ditch basser, I tried to PM you to ask if you knew what the water temp was on the refuge and to try to pick your brain about where I could walk in and a few other things.
Looks like a fun trip! Now that deer season is over, Im ready to hit the water too!

In humble reverance to the GREAT I AM! THAT I AM!
