Another Great Tournament under our belts!
I want to express my thanks to such great Club Members! You show up to fish, no matter the conditions....and you do in great numbers. A Total of 18 members braved the winds yesterday on Lake Claiborne. We not only held a tournament but we added several new members, and we broke club records for total Winning weight and for Big Fish. Pay-Out of $550 in total winnings, and awarded several nice door prizes, Not to mention the new friendships that are taking place are all proof that we have a good thing going!
The winning weight was brought in by no other than L.D. Henry at 11.15lbs for 7 fish limit, a new club record for total weight. That catch landed him in 1st place and $230.00 in prize money.
2nd Place was not far behind at 10.27 lbs with 7 fish from my good friend Skipper Skains otherwise known as "Mo'nBack" on crappie.com. He made off with $140.00 in his pocket
Big Fish and Third Place went to Gary Calloway. Gary brought in the new club record for big fish @2.33lbs. And stole 3rd place at 10.04lbs to collect a total of $180.00 in winnings.
Door Prizes awarded were as follows:
Kyle Pate- 10' Wohali Crappie Rod and a Mr. Crappie Solo Reel.
Greg Johnson- Mr. Crappie Rod
James Morgan aka "Southern Chuter" on crappie.com- pickled quail eggs donated by fellow member John Ackle aka "Big John" on crappie.com

Lesson Learned during this Fishing Opportunity Keep Rat Baits out when Rods are stored in out sheds. Rats chewed on Jigs cutting lines on the reelsrequiring rerigging several times and while letting the line down finding the line on the reel was cut from the Knawing. I wound up with not enough line on two poles to reach bottom, Basicly less than 50 ft. Bro put the poles in the Boat so I didn"t know untill I was on the water. I Lost the best early Fishing trying to get a line in the water.
congrats to all the winners.....you are doing a great job with the club Brandon...

RETIRED LOUISIANA CRAPPIE HUNTER
Some purty fat fish. Any tips/lies on how they caught?![]()
Them boys above were fishing further up the lake away from crowd that were stacked down by the Damn. I was near Mo'nback and he was on some good fish, LD and Gary were within sight as well. Blue Thunder seem to be the color choice fishing near bottom in 30-35 ft of water. Fish were scattered, I only had 7 at days end and Skipper had 13 I think, but all were good fish. Fished by the crowd at the spillway for a very short period but fish were small. Gary's big fish came from blue thunder with the tails tip barely dipped in chrt/garlic dip n glow. LD and Gary were on the same pattern as Skipper as far as I know.
Yea I had a blast! Brandon is doing a heck of a job on the club! I ended up with 12 and they were good fish. Had 2 poles with 4 jigs each and most fish were caught at 26-30 ft in 34fow out straight on front of the state park cabins. I'd find a brush top, shad, or fish on the depth finder and throw out a bouy and then fish a 30 yard circle around the bouy for an hour or so and then pic up and find some more. I think the man that won it stayed in 1 spot the whole time. Most were like BJ said, caught on blue thunder. Met some fine people there also..........Southern Chuter and Freebird to name a couple. Met others but didnt get their CC name.
