Well I did not know Opie had give the Perch Jerkers a name, but that sound better than Perch Jerkers so I'll go with that.
Yesterday (Monday) was the only decent looking weather day this week so I went with my friend Harry and his son. We went to where Opie had been fishing and found the perch waiting. Since the lake has come up some we put in at Hallmark Shores. That is a shallow ramp and we really had to back out to launch.

We ran around the cove to the old Turners Landing cove and started fishing in 40 FOW. It did not take long to find the fish,
Here is Harry and son, Will, pulling in a few.

We were using minnows but I decided to try the Flexit Spoon and got a hit and caught one of the largest of the day.

Hard to tell from the picture, but this fellow was bout 14 inches and thick as a 2X4.
When I pulled him in Harry said you want to see him on TV??

This shows the jig and the fish hitting and then me reeling him in. Pretty cool electronics, huh?
Harry's son had to leave at 10:30 and it was probably a good thing because we had 50 in the cooler and sure did not need to stay longer. We had planned to drop Will off at the landing, but we figured we had enough to clean so we called it a day.
Here is Butch's cooler shot, and yes, Tim, they are floating upside down as you requested.

I am soooo jealous! I've developed a real passion for these fish (both the catching and the eating), and I've scaled down the tackle to take better advantage of just how hard they fight. But Clarks Hill (as far as I know) is still too muddy, and local reports I've heard are very poor, even in the clearer waters of Russell. Overnight we went from catching over a hundred to almost none...but that's what 3-4 feet of new water the color of milk chocolate will do.
Hopefully, I can soon rejoin the fun y'all are already having. Although I'll have to call my group the Perch EXTRACTION Team, as eradication might be too bold a boast even for me!![]()
Remember....Good Things Come to Those Who Bait......
Excellent Ray, being part of the exclusive P.E.T. we need to keep one thing in mind. The state record for white perch is 1lb 15.2 oz., I believe thay we can break it! Good job and nice report.![]()

From what I understand Uncle R, Wateree has it's fair share as well as Wylie, but you are more than welcome to come help yourself.
