    Default Poverty Point 1/26/14

Fished poverty today with little success ended up with five slabs. What was odd was the water temp was 42 degrees and I caught all of the fish in 10 foot of water. Shouldn't they still be deep all where full of eggs. With the cold weather I would not think they are transitioning. I found them by accident when my baby boy called me on the phone and I drifted over a fish so I started fishing the 10 foot water and I do believe if the wind would not have blew me off the lake. I would have caught a lot more. One of the fish was right at 2 pounds. Electric chicken. And blue stinger shad.

Sometime catching fish isn't all knowledge. When fate sends you a lesson don't forget it.

10 ft wow I never even looked at that depth with the water temp at 42! I hope to get a day soon where I can fish without fighting the wind.

That kind of happened to me once. I was drifting at Grand Bayou, fishing two hooks at about one a three feet off the bottom. I rigged my daughter a slip cork at about 18'. The wind was blowing us so hard that her bobber stopper was about 6' up the line. Well she caught one then another. I thought is was just a fluke at first. So I rigged up to fish a around 12' and we ended up catching 36 in about two hours right before dark.
