Default Fishing near Lake Wales FL?

My wife has family in Lake Wales that she wants us to visit. I am thinking about pulling my boat along for a few day trips while we are there. Can someone recommend some good crappie lakes close to Lake Wales? I am setup to longline but would be open to pitch baits or even tightline. The closer to Lake Wales the better.

Several lakes available as we speak. - can & do produce 2 pounders plus
    Kissimmee 34,000 plus, Walk-in-Water 7,655, Arbuckle - 2,500
    Hatchinhaw - 6,655, Crooked 5,500

Walk-in-Water on fire & Kissimmee is starting to produce..
All within 20 mi or less of Lake Wales.

    Lake Kissimmee...

Just east off of SR60…, there's a few nice bait shops before you get there. One is on the left of SR60, just pass the McDonalds, plenty of tackle there also. The other is a few miles outside of Lake Wales, also on the left side.

Then further down the road a few miles, left on BoyScout Rd, going to Camp Mack, and putting in there… probably only 10 miles from Lake Wales.

If you check my post from yesterday on Lake Kissimmee, you'll see what I found. All of those were just hitting the lilies and grass on the outer edges with minnow and cane poles.

Plenty of boats still hitting the holes with spider rigs around markers 9 and 8 coming out of the channel also.

Also another decent lake just down the road SR27 would be Crooked Lake...

    Good Luck,
    John

crooked is clear water lake - they are deeeeeeep, deeep
work spider riggin very slow in the 18 -22 ft range on east side of middle lake
commin out of bob's landing. use 16th oz zigs and or 1/8th oz. to the bottom,
2 cranks up. pink/with hair or yellow/with hair. work them slow. usually somewhere
    around 20 - 22' down.

Skiffin16 is right, work kissimmee as it will be easiest to learn.
Walk-in-Water at this time of year is also hot...........put in off launch ramp,
walk-in-water road 7 1/2 miles south of hwy 60, turn left on ramp road, if you
cross a creek you went 1/4 mi to far.
    Work the 9-10' water
