I've been doing an online search about them since yesterday. I spray their yard often to keep fleas and ticks down so I know I'm keeping the skeeter back too. We were at Sardis in October. They were in their pen, I went to change the water. Luke had a few skeeters on him, I sprayed him with Off not to get it where he would be licking. Then spread bug powder around the pen. To late I guess.
Trying to figure out why a vet would treat them for one year and nothing said after that.

Not the testing but the treatment is $1,000., 5 to 10 treatments needed in stages 2 and 3. Stage 3 and 4 their poop is black, blood. Their pee is brown to dark brown, blood.

My Brittany got heart worms when she was about 5. We went through the treatment and then put her on prevention pills. She hated taking the things. We tried every trick in the book, finally ended up just pushing them in her throat and rubbing until she swallowed it.
This was in the 70s and the treatment was not as expensive I guess or we couldn't have afforded it. Hope things work out for you.

Just for the record,2 years ago, I was told my dog had heart worms and the vet wanted to treat him for a rather large fee. I said no. 2 Yrs. later I'm told by a different vet that my dog does not have heart worms. The record shows in the computer. My dog gets a shot for heart worms once a year!Sorry to hear about your dog Cane!

I hope your pup does well Cane. We have a rat terrier who has had her spleen removed and now she has thyroid problems, has to be tested monthly. She's part of the family, but it tends to be expensive. She's worth it though.

The vet said stage 4 is to late for anything to be done. Enjoying his company until time to give him the shot.
