Thanks Gene! Only been after Sacalait for a year but man am I hooked! I was wondering why those fish were so dark. Makes perfect sense though. If they are fanning nest, than I suppose the males are in the shallower water and the spawn is about to start, which means the bite is about to be on!

If you're catching males that are fanning then the females are just off in slightly deeper water. It could be only a few feet away or a few yards away depending on the waters you're fishing. Probe around a little and you might get hold of one of those fat and sassy females.
