Have you arrived at florida yet? There are a lot of great lakes to recommend, but need to know where you are or will be located.

New member as of today and looking for some help from the group. We currently live in northern Illinois and are going to move to Florida. Tired of the winter weather here. I would like to make a move to be on or near a great crappie lake. Gonna retire soon and would like to fish just about everyday. Really like what I am seeing on Crappie.com as far as the fishing clubs and the tournaments. Any thoughts on a great fishing lake perhaps near the Clermont area would be much appreciated.

We have family in Leesberg and are considering a lake within 30 minutes or so of Leesberg.

I believe you will find all the crappie your heart desires within one hour of Leesburg. Too many lakes to fish...maybe a retired guy like Speckanator has the time to fish all the lakes. But I have found it difficult to get to them all.
I live in the Clermont area, and I average driving about 45 mins to some of the more productive lakes. You will find crappie in all the lakes including the Harris Chain, Clermont Chain, Johns Lake, Winter Haven/Lakeland area lakes, Kissimmee lakes, and of course the St. Johns River Lakes. Let me know when you get down here, if you land in Clermont I can point you in the right direction. Be safe in your travels.

Crappielover,
I have a 17.5 Crestliner fishing boat with a 75 Mercury 4 stroke. I've got some knee troubles so I would like to find a lake that I could put the boat on so I am looking for that one lake that you might call the best choice if you were going buy a house. Within say an hour from Leesburg. Any suggestions?

That's a tough one for me. There are so many lakes and they turn on and off throughout the years. If you position yourself near the St. John's Lakes...you will always be near a hot lake. Do you need to live in a big or small town? Sounds like you will need a decent boat ramp. There's my two cents.
