I think its funny the largest crappie ever caught was caught in late July. just think how much it would weigh full of eggs. The Ark black was also caught in the first week of June. And I cant believe one of you ain't broke the 4.7 lb white record for the state of Arkansas. For Shame...For Shame HAHA...
Thanks Russ. What bodies of water do you think have the greatest potential in Arkansas to produce one of these fish? It seems to be that most lakes in Arkansas that are known for crappie probably get to much pressure and harvest to grow a five pounder. Your thoughts?

Hmmm. I sure thought the state record was from Lake Ola-Dale.

I have no doubt the record swims in the Arkansas, White, Cache, St Francis, or MS river Systems or in one of the many back waters, Oxbows, or tributary's there of. This is my best guess.

Thanks Russ. I know some pretty remote backwaters off the Arkansas I may need to investigate.

Russ has already caught all the crappie out of those places. He, personally, caused the extinction of crappie in Lake Dardanelle. Nothin left in there but bass an cats.

There may be some truth to that...Lake Conway has been kicking Lake Dardanelle's butt all fall and winter long. LOL Never count out the Big D tho it will bounce back.
