    Default Looked high and low

Fished water from 3 ft to 25 ft today. Fished dropoffs, 18 to 22 ft flats with structure, and logs on the bank falling to 22 ft. Finally around noon hit an old log close to main channel, caught 6 fish in ten mins. Only crappie we caught all day. These fish were in 4 fow 6 ft from bank, edge of dropoff falling to 15 fow. Now the part I need someone to explain to me, 4 of the 6 were full of bright yellow eggs! I dont get it. Water temp was 44. The 6 fish weighed 9lbs 12 0zs so they were nice fish, at least I think so. Talked to and watched several other people, no one was doing any good where we were

Really not unusual for females to have bright colored eggs this time of year.

Went out on Saturday at Barren River Lake and found the river channel edge and followed it until our minnows got spotted by willing crappie. Our best luck seemed to be in 14' to 18' of water and had our bait at 12' and all were full of eggs, its just that time of year. The eggs really become noticeable just before Thanksgiving, atleast over here on Barren. My partner and I kept 50 of those fatties. That memory has a big ole smiley sticker on it!
