First posting and a brief bio to introduce myself. I live full time on Lay Lake and it's 90 feet from my front porch to the waters edge and my pier. I crappie fish with jigs and ultra light tackle from mid October to mid May each year. When it gets hot I let them rest up for the fall. I use 4.5 to 5.5 foot rods with high visibility 4 pound test monofilament and jigs that weigh from 1/4 ounce to 1/64 ounce. Heavier jigs for deep water and strong current times. I don't fish much in the summer because I don't handle the heat well. I usually make a couple of trips each year to salt water to get some variety for the freezer because I eat fish 4 or 5 times per week. I am retired. I fish from a pontoon boat for crappie due to dizziness problems that caused me to fall out of my fishing boat. Now I have a fence to catch me. I cast or shoot jigs around piers and specialize in deep structure fishing. I live near Bozo's marina. I make most of my jig and use hair, feathers, as well as many types of plastic grubs. I often add Crappie Nibbles. I vary colors but have some favorites.

"But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 25:15
