Default HELP NEEDED..How can I make gills?

Bob, and others, I desire your help. My minnow is still a work in progress. I was able to make entrails and get them inside the body before shooting it. I still have to resort to using a permanent marker to get the gill flraring open look. I have not quite gotten the hang of getting the blood plastic to adhere inside the mold and staying in place before shooting it. The eyes are looking great. Now if I could only find a way to do the gills. Any suggestions anybody?

Ship, if you blunt the tip of a toothpick and dig it into the hot plastic only enough to get a dab on the end, quickly tap it into the belly part of the mold right up next to the gate or sprue hole. It takes some time to get the knack of it but when you do your baits will look very professional.

This is done with the mold open and before the belly or full body gets shot in. I don't make slashes, just a simple dot of hot orange.

The orange dot has been put into the mold as directed on this shot and you can see how the gill patch looks after finishing the shot in this picture.

That is how I do the eyes on the minnow. I mix a blue/black color and use a toothpick to place it in the eye socket. I will make up the blood red color for gills and place it kinda sorta where I think gills should be. Stay tuned as I tinker with the concepts. Thank you again my friend.

A small dowell or the kbob sticks might work too i have used a small paint brush to paint the top of some of mine but one swipe is it lol use the cheap brushes Don't know about this don't spike-it have a plastic that sets when it gets hot like u put your mold in the oven heat it up would the hot plastic be hot enough to set a thin stripe when u shoot it, just a thought!!
