Here are some pictures of some open water crappie. I am sure there are some mixed catfish and such with these pictures but mostly crappie. I pulled this area a couple time along with about 10 other boats. The fish were there but were not biting at the time. These series of pictures are from the same location.
These are a group of big fish up river in a slough. I think they are catfish but could be large bass. I didn't try them since I was headed for the crappie.
This looks like a group of gar. It is hard to tell but definitely a school relating to the drop off.
I caught about 40 fish at this location. Most were young male crappie but managed to keep 20 fish from this spot. The fish were suspended in open deep water near a shallow flat staging for the spawn. You can see the small dots of crappie and identify the depths to fish them by using the 2D sonar shot. Sometimes the crappie are hard to see on SI if they are not big so never ignore the 2D sonar.

Man i can see the fish on the down sonar but not the side image part. Wish i knew what to look for and which side of picture.
