    Mack,

I made a similar jig and they work well! I have caught largemouth, hybrid stripers, and even catfish on mine. It does swim well if you have the right size/shape lip.

    Pete

P.S. I thought I had developed something new, but these type jigs have been around for a while - look for "Scrounger" heads.

    Mack,

Just to clarify - I didn't mean that as a dig. When you have an idea and something similar is being made commercially, you should take that as a signal that the idea was a pretty good one!

When I started trying to make a jig that would wobble I didn't know about the Scrounger head and I experimented with adding modified suction cups. Eventually those worked, but then I found out that the Scrounger had been made years before I came up with the idea. That just told me the idea was a good one.

    BTW, nice ties!

I'm using clear plastic I had left over laying around... It works beautifully for what I need.

I have done the same thing and the results are awesome. I use the small silver spoons for additional flash. I also looked at the scrounger type designs but I like the smaller blade underneath personally.

This is the scrounger type jig head

This is my design. Again you have the wobble of a crank bait and the versatility of soft plastic on a jig head. Additionally, you can do this "Crank Jig" on 1/32 and 1/16th jig heads. You can also turn the underneath blade in the opposite direction if you want a different wiggle or action as turning it that way will "Scoop" more of the water at a time.
