Good deal man, Thats about what I found this weekend. When it's really windy I'll tight line a jig and fish it 18" and lower till I get a bite. Green/chartruse worked well for me. Tom

Fished in the first cove east of the UBC boat ramp today. The boat was in 5 ft of water and I was casting a small orange/brown jig next to laydowns about 1 and a half foot under a bobber. I would guess the water depth was about that as well. Managed 10 fish in about a hour and a half. Pretty good I think considering the windy conditions. The wind was really blowing and it was difficult to keep the boat where I wanted it to be, also blew the bobber around. Hopefully the wind quiets down as we get into the week. The Crappie are getting really dark now. So look like the spawn is upon us.

My father and I went out of Hwy 50 ramp today. Put the boat in about 5:00 and fished till about 6:45 and caught over 70. He fished with minnows and i fished with a little silver body/ red head grub and was tearing them up

Thanks for the report Redboat. Sounds like Barton creek is purdy good place.
Wakeforest did you fish around the spillway area or go the other way under the 50 gridge? Shallow?
I went left from the boat ramp. We were fishing proably around 3 feet deep.
Planning to go to Falls Lake this weekend and need some help on where to fish. I have a small jon boat so I dont really want to get in any big water.I'm not familiar at all with the lake.If anyone can help, that would be great.Trying to catch some Crappie, heard Falls Lake was the place to go. Thanks
Was @ falls yesterday and was slaying the crappie. Must have caught 100 in 5 hours. This weekend most of the crappie fishers will be @ the crappie classic @ Jordan lake, so you should do well.
Like everyone else was saying, launch @ hayes barton and hug the shore till you find a good spot with a lot of structure.
Good luck.

Daredevil thats a nice day fishin! Where were you fishin in general? Or in specific if you dont care. LOL Thanks for the report. And welcome to the board. We are glad you joined us.
No, I have no problem with sharing info. I wish I could tell you specifically where we were, but this was only the 2nd time I've been to Falls on a boat and I just dont know the lake well. We launched @ Barton, went left and worked all the tress we saw in the water along the shore. We were down past the 1st eagle nest on the left in one of the coves. We hit bout 3-4 keepers in each tree. I had 0 luck with minnows, switched to crappie jigs shortly after my brother pulled in his 5th or 6th with me having nothing in the boat. We had the most success with the jig about 2.5-3 ft down. As soon as you couldnt see the rig anymore they would hit.Originally Posted by FishCrazy

Daredevil that is good info. Thanks for the report. I have been using primarily minnows and doing quite well with them. I do use red hooks and that may be helping but I use em mostly till I loose em and they are not red any more if I keep fishing them any length of time. I saw a guy yesterday nailing them with a jig and he said that chartruse was good for him and white. I need to try some jigs and see how I do cause the minnow thing is a pain.
