I caught one small mouth about 2 pounds on friday right after school and might of caught more but i just fished while my mom went to the grocery store which only took about 20 minutes
A Sniper Bolt. It is the best dropshot bait I have ever used. They whoop up on the Robo Worms even. What I do is I pitch it out there and shake the heck out of it and just stop to let it sink. Then start up again and pull it a little. It was about 10 inches above the sinker. With a size one gamakatsu dropshot hook and it was rigged texas style on the hook.

Headed back out to Washington early sat morning. There was a huge curcuit bass tourny going with about 120 boats on the water but the fishing was great. Fished rockiles and gobblestone flats up and down the east channel. Caught 13 bass total, 5 largemouths and 8 smallies. The largemouths were all males that were clearing out nest..all caught sight fishing with a 4inch Zoom lizard. The smallies were bunched up under docks and in the canals. Even though the canals were under serious pressure that morning I was still able to pull 6 from them on a 176 grub with 1/8 leadhead. Moved out to the deep rockpiles in 20'-35' and pulled two hogs of them with a little work. You should have seen the look on the faces of one of the tourny guys when I slid a 4 1/2lbs smallie back into the lake :p. Washington is going to be on fire in two more weeks......get ready!
Spent 8 hours on Shadow Lake yesterday. Those largies ate everything I would throw at them. I believe I could have put hooks on a beer can and caught bass there :D. Everything from buzzbaits to dropshot rigged baby Senko's nailed them.....but they were all dinks. 22 bass brought to the boat and many more missed or broken off in the thick wood in the canals. There're tons of new fallen trees in the canal this year.

I spoke with the director of the NW B.A.S.S on Saturday when I made a quick stop into Coulon Park to grab some grub. He gave me some info on the tourny and we spoke about the patterns that have been developing on the lake in the last week our so. I guess last weeks tourny was the first time he'd fished L. Washington. I told him it would take at least a 20lb bag to win and he thought I was nuts :D. Well I was off a little....it took a little over 21lbs![]()
The canals are on a really hot bite right now and will be for at least another month. If you head back out soon try cranks on the weed flat outside the mouth and dropshot your way back into the canals. There are still a ton of hogs hanging around the bridges in 15 feet waiting to move up.
Gotta love the perch in that lake. They will hit a grub harder than a 3lb smallie :p.
So where are these "canals"? I keep hearing about them but are not sure on there location.
