got about 3 last night on various areas of the cut (one new place i never thought to fish) - none over 10"... where did all the big girls go?
Some observations from last night:
-saw a boat come in and fish the cut yesterday - first one I've ever seen do that - whos that in the "research" aluminum?
-there were TONS of small jumpers and surface feeders or runners in the east end of the cut around sundown - are those smolts or some kind of baitfish? Ridiculous amounts of activity at some times.

I took my GF's Brother to a little bank spot I brought 4 to the shore dropshoting the first one went 3.6 and was the largest he brought 2 in the biggest being 1.5.

Ugh had one of the most frustrating days out there today.
Started throwing a big stanley wedge SB and got hit almost immediately by a nice smallie - saw it come up for it but short strike. So I throw on a trailer hook and go at it for anohter 10 minutes or so and hook up with another nice one, but this guy or girl gets all acrobatic on me and jumps wayy outta the water and shakes the hook! I've never had a fish jump and shake me before so that sucks, and it took my trailer hook with it.
Tried a jerkbait (slender pointer) for a while with nothing so time to bust out the trusty grubs. I forgot to bring my bullet weights so I cant t-rig em like I want to. Forced to use roadrunner heads which were the only jigheads I had with me. Immediately snagged one, tie on my last one which I luckily didn't snag. From here on I proceed to watch no less than 3-4 smallies smash by bait and steal my grub tails but I cannot get a single one to hook up. Also had numerous bumps where I couldn't see em, but I don't think they can all be perch since I witnessed so many missed strikes.
Plus I lost my favorite go-to spinnerbait in the branches doing a stupid "last cast".
Bleh.
Always tomorrow!

you need to put a keeper on your main hook to keep you trailer from coming off...
-
whats a keeper? that plastic tubing thing? I had one of those on...
-
yeah, the keeper is the tubing.
i'm going to your shore spot in a couple hours koke.....

If you use Siwash hooks (I use Gamis) for trailers on a spinnerbait, there is no need for a "keeper" piece of rubber. Simply squeeze the eye of the trailer hook with pliars enough so that it won't slide back over the barb of your main hook. This also allows the trailer to swing freely, which I think offers a better chance for a hook-up.

yea Ive thought about doing that but it sounds like kindofa pain to take em off after doing that. trying to run a sb through pads and reeds with a trailer on makes it hang up all the time so I dunno how good that would be.

we got about 5 smallies, biggest was around 14". cranks, hula grubs, and dropshots.

nice job man!!! you like that spot...I told bpm about it but I do not think that he has gone.....
