Hey thanks for the compliments on the fish everyone. I fished the Jr state tournament at banks over the weekend and only managed to scratch out 4th place and probably culled 30 times through out the day it sucked, but now is a good time to hit up banks; A guy culled 113 times in the jamboree

The water temps have dropped 8-9 degrees since last weekend. The crappie pretty much shut down and moved back to the first breaks. The bass are done spawning and are up shallow feeding on smolts and newly hatched bass. Every bass I caught had another one following it up to the boat and they were spiting out minnows. They seem to be roving in small packs hunting minnows. On Sunday we caught 16 smallies from 1 - 3lbs. Couldn't find the big ones to save my life lol.
The crappie were hard to catch. I checked out four spawning areas....nothing. Last week the temps were at 67.3 and the action was fast. This week.....temps were 58.7 at the warmest area we tried. We finally had to back up offshore and fish brush piles in 12-17 feet of water since they were not holding on the pilings like last week. Only caught 6 or 7 crappie and they were all little males. That week long cold front has done a real number on the crappie spawn this year. It doesn't look good.
Yeah it was weird, on sunday, I was able to pick up 8 bass including the 18 and 19 incher but monday i fished hard and was only able to produce one 10 incher and a pumpkinseed..
fishing can be weird sometimes :confused: . i hope the good weather will make the crappie bite up at cassidy. i'm gona head up there after school. either off the dock or rent a boat. we'll see what happens......
