God I hope they didn't mention any crappie holes on WA or Union. Those are the best kept secrets in the state right now. It's like pulling teeth trying to get guys to give up info on these lakes and I'd hope it would stay that way for awhile longer.

Goodluck out on Duck this weekend Koke. My mom lives out there and said a few have been caught back in the Grand Canal over the past month or so. Might be worth taking a look back in there if the main lake doesn't pan out. I'll have a L. Wa report on Sunday if the wind doesn't whip up to bad.

I first place that I ever caught crappie was at the end of the Grand but since then it has been a main lake type of deal, I am going to see if I can get some bass to come say Hi as well.

Those dirty rotten sons of #$%&#s :D. Just kidding. That area is not really a close kept secret anyway. Anyone that's ever dropped an Aqua-Vu under the piers or logbooms down there knows it's loaded with huge crappie. Getting them to bite on something is a different matter all together like any type of fishing.

Now here's a close guarded secret: not many guys know that the main forage of crappie on WA is a fresh water smelt and L. WA is one of only two lakes in the world that has a large population of landlocked longfin smelt. Figure out the smelt....and you've figured out how to catch big crappies out there.;) One more: One of the main forage foods for the cutthroat in that lake is..........small crappie and smelt. So, where are the best areas for the trout on the lake? Trout live on bait fish even more so than crappie. Find the trout areas, find the baitfish, and you've found the crappie. There are really only four major areas of that lake that hold high concentraions of trout and two of them are too deep for crappie to use. Find these areas, find wood or rock structure near by and you'll find the slabs.

thaks for the info slab :D . do you think any crappie would under the fishing docks down at culon? i know there is a good population of smallies and perch around those docks. i caught a lot of spawning perch in the shallow weeds along the shore last year. drop shoting works good for smallies to.

I dug up a few good links. Lake WA is a very dynamic lake. But by studying the food chain and a good map you can learn more in a few hours of reading then you can in 5 years of fishing the lake.

Read the "Best Hotspots" section of this article for few areas of the lake to search for crappie. The trout are feeding on baitfish just like the crappie are: http://www.sportsmanshow.net/Articles/article20.htm

Yeah, there just might be a few down there :D

i guess i will have to consentrate more for crappie when i go down to those docks.

great articles slab! i had only read one of those and it was the one that was the interview of the guide on lake washington. i found that article a long time ago but could never relocate but i got it! its pretty cool that there is such a unique population of fish in that lake

good info! now if it would only warm up I could put it to use...
