Spent the last 10 days or so hunting for crappie spawning. Casting with one pole, one lure under a float right to shore. Caught up to 10 a day and up to 13.5 inches. More males than females. Let most go, keep 4 at 12" most days just a good mess for dinner. Did not freeze any.
Sort of odd, one day they wanted chartruse, next day white, next day purple with a chartruse tail. Did fare with the sliders on roadrunner heads and 1/8 oz heads. All I cast last year was white. I tried different colors this year. Me thinks they will hit anything they can see. When the dark tannic water was like tea I did better than when it was muddy. I do not know the names of all the little creeks or if they even have a name. Single trees in a cove seemed to be hot. Hit the tree with the lure and let it fall and just sit, twitch and wham!

Think I am going to make a gaff to lift them grinnel (just to measure/unhook)
