lets get some catawba worms (they in them cigar hanging looking trees) grass shrimp, crickets, rooster tails and hit the chick or diascunds we should be able to find some but think june to be better.....I like them blue gills as well

I,ve got 5 of those catawba trees in my yard & your right june or july is when they,re covered up i always get a bunch & freeze some for the cat fish. Too bad you,re so far away as i could give ya a bunch that i have stock piled.:D I,ve always had good luck with squirll tail jigs & red worms for the shellcrackers.

I have been catching some shells on the Nottoway. I haven't really got a pattern for them yet. I got 3 on thur and 1 on Sat. All came on the sallow end of fallen timber. I have not fished much shallow water here lately. Anybody have any suggestions?

I would think they would be moving in Die, but with my lack of success at Branch...(really very frustrating and surprising), who am I to say?
Like NavyAngler, we've caught a few at the Nottoway, but they don't appear to be bedding yet. With this warm stretch, this might be the weekend.
Dunno if I can make LCR, sounds like fun though. I'll see how the week goes.

ok,,I looked back at last year reports we had a bash at LCR on may 17th with full moon,,,maybe it is a little early

yeah buddy figured ole bama boy would understand !!!!!! I take a piece of screen wire and fold then staple and apply duct tape to the seems (prevents the need for bandaids) grab a bunch of leaves out the tree then start plucking the caterpillar looking species from the branches and fill the catawba toter ....I took me a bunch to briary creek bout two three years after they let us in there and the people there were going what you mean catawba worm...me and a buddy raped the 1lb. 1 1/4 red ears the hybrid bream them things was breaking ten lb. test getting up in the trees and such ..but they sure are some good bait.....how bout them mosquito hawks around the porch light left on all night bout 4:00 a.m. they right good too we aint got non them up here I seen..........once you double them catawba's up and hook twice that green blood they bleed sure gets crackers a going......
