Default BBQ John (jlbbq1), Horseshoer Tear Diascund A New One

Well, thats the headlines I had all layed out for this anyway. Met John at the launch at 6:30. Stewarts had no minnows, John was nice enough to go clear to P Forge, via Ed Allens (closed) for minnows. Fished about 7 hrs total I guess. Caught alot of small crappie on both bridges. An abundance of white perch everywhere, BBQ John rakin em in 2 at a time.

Went as far as Vaidens Pond and turned back, fished along the way. John took the opportunity to tangle with a muskie.

I caught a cpl pretty good green carp and lost what was probably a bowfin
or muskie. I lagged way behind John in the catching dept., he put a whippin on me. He caught the only good slab at 12".

John is a relaxed, friendly, easy-to-BS-with type of dude, I had a blast and recommend a chance to fish with him to anybody. We had never met and
shared a boat well except for a little incident where I got a little sore about being outfished and made a remark about his Momma. Poor planning on my part, John took my oar and with an upward swing like a golf T-shot, sent my family jewels to the penthouse suite. I cant swim and wasnt wearing my PFD so what little retaliation I had left after taking one like that I used throwing dead minnows at him. Oh no, I dont just quit THAT easy. I drove the end of his fishing rod smack into a piling on the 1st bridge, effectively making it resemble less a crappie rod and more a tuna stick.:D
    Sorry John.

I cut the legs off a pair of the ol ladys' panty hose and wore them as shorts, freestyle, with a sombrero & flip flops anticipating the 100 degree heat so John asked that I not post any pics of me with all my big fish.

Nice fish on the warmest day of the year. Please be aware that Fishing Pro Tech/Headhunters Hdqtrs at 100 Depot St in Toano has a full line of Minnows, small, medium, large and jumbos for the serious rockfish fisherman. I realize that our prices are a tad more, but running out to Providence Forge or to Newport News costs more in gasoline than the difference in prices. Come in early during the week and get "great deals" on live bait and other fishing gear, Charlie & I will serve you from 7:00am until 11:00am. After that, be aware that a dozen is 12..............

Dementia thats gotta be you, whattaya doin here under new guise? I know where Pro-Tech is I live less than 2 miles away. About them minnows-
how much are they? You are not a wealth of information. Like, how many is a dozen BEFORE 11 A.M.? When exactly is "early in the week" to get the GREAT DEALS? I would say be more specific but that would be a dumb thing to say. Like you could be less, or there is any other kind of specific to be in yur case.

    And I have more questions:
What kind of minnows do you carry for those that are only casual or sporadic, but not serious rockfisherman? How bout if yur not a rockfisherman at all, what kinda minnows you got, if any, for them? And you should really be decent enuf to stop anyone who is going to Newport News for minnows to fish up this way unless they are coming from that way. Take their keys man, they should not be commandeering a motor vehicle in their crazed state.

Lastly, dont take offense but I want Charlie Pabst to serve me when I come in there. I don't wanna listen to any bass sass, and ask him will he say please, thank you, & address me as Sir? Been a long time since I was in the army and I was not an officer, but a salute wouldnt hurt either. Please pass this on to Chuckie.:p Also inform him if his bassmaster butt is gonna park under the bridge this fall and shanghai my 17"ers I'm gonna have to start giving the bigger size green carp like a couple I caught today a taste of my chub club and feed the buzzards with em.:D

Great pics as always. It hit 99 at my house today, I'll bet it was a hot one out there. Of course, you gotta love the shade of the bridges, add a little breeze and it's not too bad.

    Minnow Prices at FPT/HH are;
    Small $1.70 doz
    Medium 2.80
    Large 3.90
    Jumbo $1.25 each
Early in the week means NOT on the weekends, Charlie is thinking about retiring again, and I don't want to work more than 2 days a week. Most really serious Striper fishermen catch their own shad with a "Throw net", less serious buy em from me. they are anywhere from about 4" to about 6", no luck, eat the bait. I might add that most retired squids have this weird military bearing, me, hell, I was drafted into the Marines, so it's not important to me to be bossy.
