Cental Virginia Crappie
Can any central Virginia Crappie fisherman suggest where to fish during this hot August weather?
I've been fishing Lake Orange.
What do you suggest, live bait or jigs, what kind?
Thanks!

Welcome aboard. I'm not familiar with the lakes up there but find brush/trees in 15-20 ft of water and fish them with jigs. I went with a friend of mine (Fishdoc) to Buggs once this time of the year and he caught about 150 (and I'm not exaggerating). I caught 3. The secret to it is to watch your line very carefully. If it twitches - set the hook. If it stops sinking - set the hook.I fit moves sideways - set the hook. If it does anything out of the ordinary - set the hook. My problem is I can't see the line.

From where you are, my first thought would be lake Anna bridge pilings. They are still biting in the tidal James river. 7-14’ deep, holding on structure. Great thing about moving water is they almost always hiding behind something to rest from
The moving water.

Thanks for the tip. I've not made it to Anna yet. That's on my list. I think I'll hit the Rivanna Reservoir bridge pilings this weekend.
Just got a order of goodies from Pico Lures to try out.
