Default Need Buggs help at Eagle Point / Eastland

Son's scout troop is camping at Eagle Point this weekend. He is 15 now I don't camp with him. Im considering taking the boat down and trying to let the boys catch some crappie. Any of you guys want to share a good summertime brush pile close by that I can take the boys too to watch a cork go under? I've quit making the trip to Buggs in the last few years. Never did know anything about Eastland.

Another dad is taking a ski boat to take them tubing. I figure some may want to fish.

PM or email or text. No need to make it public.

    Thanks guys.

I think someone once said there wasn't a lot of brush in Eastland. I've only fished there once and didn't do very well. Tapout should be able to help you.

Thanks Gene. Tap gave me 4 that should be easy to get to and find with the side finder. If I can find a mess of fish, I'd like to let the boys catch a couple with a minnow and cork, then give them a jig/grub to count down and see them catch one on that. Hope to find them close, as I can only take a couple boys and a registered scout leader at a time. Would like to give each of them a chance to catch a few. If it works, I'll see about permission to post pics or video of some of there catches. I expect to put all fish back, as the meals are already planned and nobody is bringing cornmeal!! Hahaha!

Thanks guys. I don't normally fish in the summer, so hoping for the best.

Sounds like you have the jnfo you need. What little I've fished there lately the fish have been 10 to 15 ft deep over brush in 20+ fow. Let me know if you need any additional ifo. Good luck and hope you can put them on some fish.

Thanks Roy. Tap shared 3 good choice up in Eastland and one closer to Eagle Point boat ramp. The boys will be camping on the first point west of the Eagle Point ramp, so Im good unless you have anything really close to there.

Most of the ones I know would be in Eastland, may have to go looking for the one near Eagle Point. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. We had a good day. The crappie didn't want to play but we did catch white perch, crappie and "David's Fish". No telling how often this guy watched TapOut and didn't hit his jig out of respect for a crappie purist.

I wish I had the camera rolling when this fish hit. I had the drag set fairly light and he took off. I had to chase him down with the trolling motor. Pretty good for a #6 gold snelled hook. David recently made Eagle Scout. Jason, in the red, will be there before long. You can make Eagle with as few as 22 merit badges. Jason currently has 90 of the possible 120. Kids is on a mission. Both of these guys are great people and good role models for the younger scouts. Make no mistake, there is hope for our Country.

One of the adult leaders brought his ski boat to pull the boys on tubes. His motor seized up around noon. Really stinks.

Boy get his learners permit in a couple months, but since no one was at the secluded Eagle Point ramp.............

The most special part of the day was the ride home with my son. Good, normal yaking. No yelling about homework! Just life and stuff. He even played Bluegrass music on his phone and sang some rolling up the road. He doesn't know I had my phone running the voice recorder. I'll let his mom hear it. Good stuff. My cup does run over. I'm so blessed.

All the best to each of you. Loving life here.
