Spotsylvania County Crappie

Having recently relocated to Virginia, I live within 2 miles of Ni River Reservoir, and within 15 minutes of both Motts Run and Hunting Run Reservoirs. I fish from an Old Town 147 Guide canoe. Does anyone have any information or hot spots for crappie on any of these reservoirs, and please tell me what lure, color and rig to use? Coming from Ohio Lake Erie area we used shiner minnows with bobbers but they are not available here. I truly am grateful for any information you could give.
