    Default Shad Runs

What bodies of water have shad runs in Va? Also were is a good starting point to fish for them on each stream - river. I have fished a few but like to try some new water.

The james river at the city of Richmond is always hot. But lots of boats usually. Go during the week if possible. Anncaroww landing just south of the city off 95. Not sure about that spelling. All major rivers in va get a shad run. Also chickahominy river at rockahock is good as well. Check the state reg. though. Cant keep river herring or amer. shad. But you can fish for all of them, just release those fish, keep any other kinda shad. Hope this helps.

Strong run of Hickory shad and some nice roe fish in downtown Richmond right now. White perch as well. The water looks great. You can fish by foot or boat, but it does get crowded. Take the Maury St exit to Ancarrows Landing. It is the first exit heading south on 95 after you cross the James River in downtown Richmond.
