finally got back on the water yesterday afternoon, first time since april 18th, fishing was tuff but finally got a mess- on water bout 12 stayed till dark- put in at longwood & fished from black creek out to the powerlines- started in the shallows, up in the willows, never found a crappie- figured well maybe they'r deep, hit some brushpiles in 20-25 fow marked ton of fish of some kind on em but fished em for an hour casting jigs and roadrunners & never got a bite- went looking finally hit some sweetgum trees that had been layed in the water with the tops at bout 6-8 fow and found some crappies, fished em last 2 hours probly caught 25-30 fish outa which keep 11 nice ones, no giants but good fish, 9-12"- water ran from really stained to plum red muddy with temps running 72-77, when i cleaned the 11 all had small immature eggs in em- been a screwy spring.....hope to go this weekend maybe try panhandle, finally done with them dang turkeys, tagged out yesterday morning, 3 in Va and 2 in NC, got plenty turkey tenders in the freezer now gota start replenishing the fillets now......![]()

Sounds like you worked hard to find em but you managed to take home some good eats. Congrats on the turkey hunting.

we had a real good day in Panhandle yesterday on brush an docks, 5-10ft deep. caught nearly 90 with over 30 good keepers, no bigguns. all on jigs.
