3-9 report - Diascund Creek

Quick trip in kayak on Diascund Creek Monday PM. Had incoming tide with water temp at 42 degrees. Temps up to 44 degrees in different areas. Fished medium minnows on bottom and small minnow free-lined 10'. First fish was nice fat ring perch -12.5" and busting at the seams. ended up keeping only three perch and 2 crappie. let a couple small perch go and missed numerous bites as usual. Blue cats started taking over and then no more perch bites. Kept several good eating size cats and lost a couple others. Could have loaded the kayak with catfish , but didn't have time for cleaning. I do love eating those cold water catfish. i don't think they are going anywhere! As a side note; a glimpse of Diascund Reservoir from Rte. 60 seemed to show that it was very low again, and I understand from a reliable source that they are lowering again to finally do the repair to the spillway. I hope to check it out this coming weekend. Hopefully they get the work done in a hurry, but who knows. Sorry in advance if I don't respond later, I don't log in alot! i think I attached a picture!
