    Default Questions about Chickahominy Lake

Need some help. What are the depths of Johnston and Lacey Creeks? I have not been there in years and my charts don't give me depths.

    Thanks.

While the depths vary at different locations in johnsons cr, the average was 7' in the stretch that was the most productive for me. Look for a new house that was built last year.

Has anyone else tried the new locks, since the dam is finished?? I am old and on the small side 145+ but I couldn't get them open, couple wks ago. Ramp at Rockahock was blocked up moving old barges out.

So is the work completed at the locks at Rockahock? Also can we fish from them as in the past? And I think you said the barges are gone. Do you mean the ones at launch that folks fish off of? Thanks for all the help in the past. Tony

The work has been completed as far as I know. You cannot get out on the locks to fish like in the past. They have a fence put up to keep you off. Not even sure that a non emergency person can even operate the locks. Havent been there in a month so cant say about the barges but would imagine that with all this ice that it would be almost impossible to move them downriver. Planning a trip soon, been going crazy waiting for the thaw.

Thanks woodduck. Live in Pa and in laws live in Williamsburg. Was down about a month ago but the weather was nasty and did not have any time to check out my fishing spots. I look forward to spring and some good fishing.

Not sure about the barges that were used, to fish off of. They were taking out the ones that were on the side of the river just below there. They were taking them out at the landing, so it was closed. Said it would be a couple weeks before open again. Should be finished by now. That was close too a month ago. The locks are fenced in, but can be accessed from the water, by boat. Not locked, but I could not open them. A man working there, said someone was taking it to court. Something about the design, and being hard to open. That was the nice warm monday last month, what ever the date was. Fished the lake. NO BITES.
