I took the 72 miles drive and headed up to Chick Lake for the first time in 4 months. It definitely was one of the nicer weather days I ever fished. Sunny with a slight NE winds.

I have a lot of spots I fish on this lake but only managed 1 or 2 at most spots. The biggest crappie I landed was at 15oz with most around 10"-11". The vast majority were caught around 5' deep in water around 8'-9', the bigger ones were caught 8' down in a little deeper water. They didn't want my go to Money Jig and preferred a BGBS in Cajun Cricket although I got quite a few vertical jigging a chartreuse/pearl and orange wasshoppah.

High temp for the day was 82 and I showed surface water temp at 70-74. I stayed on the lake for just over 9 hours which is a record for me since my wife died on Christmas Day. I had been only fishing for around 5-6 hours per trip where as prior to losing my wife I would fish for closer to 10 hours so at least my love for fishing is slowly returning. Debbie would want me to be out there fishing.
