Default Crappie being caught in Back Bay

This sort of says the bay is not dead, looks like this fella did OK with the bass. I think the first one is the Florida strain they released and the rest look like local green bass.

Wow this is great to see. I never thought much about back bay. I used to fish it back in the mid 70's. I may just have to rethink this.

I am planning on going this sat weather depending, launch at the end of mill landing rd. I will be in a kayak, still not sure enough about the bay to go in a power boat. I will be fishing up nawney creek, just north of the launch. I fished years ago all over and ran aground a fair amount back then. I am told that are sand shoals now in the bay but I see the power boats flying all over. I want to try out at the first 2 duck blinds, I am fairly sure it is deep water straight out to them and all around Cedar islands.

I fished the canals in Sandbridge for crappie with a lot of success in the 70s. I used to use Lovetts landing some, too. Would go out to the bay then hang a right in to a cove and fish some stobs that were placed there by the CCC a long time ago. Coves were stobbed-off, supposedly to help them fill in. Only caught dinks by duck blinds back then. Also used to fish Boy Scout Bridge for LMB and white perch.

Jim--I am game to go, as soon as I get this surfing bug out of my system. (been working it out for 43 years).

Thanks for posting this. I used to fish out of Ma and Pa Lovetts and this really brought back some good memories. The grass used to be so thick you had to stop every 100 yards to clear your prop.

I remember that. When we decided to go fishing there was never any question as to where. We usually launched at Davis's Landing.
