Hit one of the Suffolk lakes today for bluegill, shellcracker and crappie. The first two didn't want to cooperate, but the crappie played pretty good after 1300. I arrived at 1100 and left at 1630. I ended the day with a bunch of little bluegill (one keeper) and a tad more than 40 crappie. I kept 8 crappie, 2 at 12", 2 at 11" and the other four were between those. Over half the fish I caught were 11"+. All fish caught on 1/32 oz. head with a wide variety of plastics. Color didn't seem to matter today. Find the fish and they would bite.

I hit Burnt Mills on Monday for 5.5 hours and netted 38 but most were around 9" with only one at 12". I caught most of them casting a pearl BGBS about 2.5' below a bobber along any weed line in 5' of water.

It was good seeing you on the water Kevin. WE ended up with 10 for the frying pan. I'll give you a holler later today.
South Paw, I mainly cast for crappie. I did experiment with a jig below a bobber that day, but I had much more action casting. I've long-lined for crappie in ponds quite often, but I really prefer to cast.
Thanks Kevin M and others for your reports. I'll have to try the jig and bobber where they are thick.
