    Default Picked Diascund on fri...

Well decided to go to diascund on friday, and it ended up being a good choice. I know most of you hate bassin, but after striking out on crappie first thing in the morning me and my buddy decided to fill the livewell with a few bass. They all eat, especially when having big fish frys. Well we caught seven keepers and then tried to catch the crappie again, well we finally found em, ended up keeping thirty total. All between 10 and 13. Went this morning to same hole on the other hand and caught only 6 crappie of keeper proportions.

That's very good news. Last year's severe reduction in the lake level followed by this spring's poor catches raised the possibility that the crappie population suffered serious harm. I hope you found the beginnings (although later than usual) of a normal season.

The next question will be the long term effects of the massive loss of shellfish (clams?). When the water level was 7' below full pool, the dry sandy stretches were littered with countless shells.
