Do a search and you will get some pretty good info. A number of posters here used to fish those rivers...more so for yellow perch, but had some decent river crappie as by catches I guess. I fished below aylett this time last year and caught several decent ring perch, but did better on river crappie to 12.5". Caught on sliders and BGBS casted upstream and bounce/ walk it down river. Was able to get deep enough...fish the oxbows. Deeper water. Keep an eye on your finder. You will find them.

I moved to King William a few years ago and have been exploring and fishing the Mattaponi all the way from upper Caroline to West Point. Best crappie fishing--or maybe just the best fishing day--was up in Caroline, Paige Rd down to Milford. Hopefully, DGIF will provide access sites later this year, but for now, it's undeveloped.

I'm moving to a new place, actually a really old place near Mundy's Bridge (still KW Co). I can't wait to check out the stretch from there down to Aylett.
