JimB joined me for his second visit to Chick Lake (4th for me) and the morning started off well with light winds. We both were casting jigs at the brush piles I had found on my previous trips, and, although the bite wasn't as good as last Saturday, we managed quite a few crappie. I still did best casting Kalins Triple Threat Shad "money" jig and I finally got them to hit another color, Kalins Triple Threat Shad, black/blue/chartreuse. By mid morning the winds were gusting to 25mph and stayed that way the rest of the time on the water. We did some exploring with my side imaging but only found a few small brush piles. I had caught 38 when I dropped Jim off at the dock, headed back out and worked real hard to get 11 more for a total of 49. Most of them were 11"-12" with only one over a pound but it was just over 14.5" and weighed 1lb 11oz. I didn't take any pics as I was busy battling the wind but Jim got a pic of the big one that he will hopefully post. For the first time in my Lund I had to anchor due to the high winds. Given the conditions today I'm pretty happy to get 49 crappie. Looks like it's Chick Lake again for me next Saturday. It was great fishing with you Jim, I enjoyed your company.
