Great report Ed!!!! All the rivers that dump in the sound look alike to me. They take your breath away. Go as much as you can with your dad because it will be something you'll never forget. I hope to get out somewhere if I finish my boat repair.

Glad you got out with your father and caught some crappie.

Very nice report and pics say much about a bluebird day that can make for some tough fishing... but there is a whole lot to be said for taking in some peace and quiet and sharing God's blessings with a loved one that take our great sport to a whole new dimension that goes well beyond just catching crappies. Thanks for sharing your day on the water with dad.

Yeah Jim they do but, the water has more salt down at this end of the Sound and there are very few cypress trees on the shores like there are back towards the western end. Lots of hurricane blow downs, snags along with marsh grass. It is a nice change of scenery for me even though I love the cypress trees. I have fished down here many times and have yet to see an Alligator even though the place is loaded with them. Its a different world down here. It's so remote in places down there it is like dad says, "If You break down down there, Its just You and the Alligators". that statement always motivates me to take every precaution and double check my crap before we go. You really feel like Your on an adventure down there.CF

Been down there once, we did some test borings for a power line crossing. We had the drill on mats set up by a swamp logger. First thing he did every morning was beat on the corner of the mats with a 16lb sledge to wake the snakes up that spent the night on the mats. I was so glad to get out of there. Never saw any gators, but did see a track where one had gone across the mats during the night.

There are moccasins down there as big around as Your leg.CF

Brings back some good memories, my buddy had a place at East Lake and I caught some nice fish down there.

Ed do you ever fish south lake. Some of my buddies swear it is the best place to get some jumbo yellow perch in the spawning time. It just seems to far to drive with n/w and I/t so close.
