Not familiar with fishing in that area, Ginny, but almost straight south, about 60 miles away is Lake Anna, good fishing for crappie, stripers, LMB, etc.

What are good Crappie fishing lakes or rivers near Warrenton? My husband (Terry) is building a Taco Bell up here so we will be here another month or so.
Thanks in advance,
Ginny (from the Florida forum)

Gene,
Not sure if you remember us but my husband (Terry) and I met you at Crescent last January. You gave Terry some of your home made jig bodies. That's really nice of you to offer to take us fishing. We would love to go and would be happy to pay for gas and whatever. Ill send you a pm.
Good luck with the Dr update tomorrow.

There is a Warrenton, VA and a Warrenton, NC. Both towns are in the northern part of their respective states. I noticed that the replies mentioned fishing waters nearby for both places, so you are covered either way.
Since it was posted on the Virginia board, I assumed it was Warrenton, Virginia and didn't even think of Warrenton, NC???

Hey Terry and Jinny, you hook up with Gene and he will show you where to catch them at Buggs Island. I live about 135 miles from there and may be going there with Eileen this week around Thursday to meet up with Gene and Elaine. If your going to go there this Thursday or Friday let me know and maybe we could hook up, but Gene is the man at Buggs.
Assuming we're talking about Warrenton, VA, you aren't far from the Occoquan Reservoir (near Manassas) or Lake Anna (about an hour south of Warrenton.) Lake Anna is much bigger, but we get occasional reports about both of these fisheries.
If you're up for the 3.5 hour trip to fish Buggs, you may also want to consider the state's second largest lake, Smith Mountain Lake (south east of Roanoke.) Highway time is similar. You are wise to get started with a guided trip on these big lakes.
If you'd rather explore some of the numerous small lakes and reservoirs closer to Warrenton, DGIF posts complete listing of all public lakes, here. There's also a link on that page to a statewide list of public launch points on all of Virginia's rivers.
Hi Vic,
It's not looking good for Terry to get a Thursday or Friday off while we are here. The job finishes around October 10 and the owners are pushing for them to hand it over earlier. He really only gets Sunday off because Warrenton does not allow construction on Sundays. If anything changes and he can muster a day off during the week we would gladly make the trip to go fishing with you and Eilieen or Gene and Elaine. Thanks so much for the offer!
