    Default newby--Mattaponi and nearby spots?

Anybody fish the Mattaponi, Pamunkey rivers? I've been going for catfish--and still looking for that 50 lb-er. I've caught crappie in the upper river (Caroline Co), but really haven't fished for them in the lower stretch, say Aylett to West Point. I've got the itch to go for some good eating fish, anything in the panfish category. Years ago, Harrison Lake was a favorite spot, but I haven't been there in years. I'm hoping to get on the water this weekend.

I don't remember name of landing on Pamunkey, but I used to fish it often. (put money in mailbox) ( bassclubs would have tourneys there often)
Anyway, I found some very nice crappie on brush/trees below the landing , but never with any consistency, because I didn't focus on them.(I hear river fish act differently)
I believe someone posted they caught some crappie below Aylett while fishing for ringers this spring.

Williams Landing...Putney's Mill Rd. I believe. I caught some ring perch and crappie about 5 oxbows below the Aylett ramp on the Matta back in March. Worms in the crappie fillets though. You could take your knife point tip and pop them right out. Still gross.
