I decided to pay Chick Lake a visit and ended the day with 53 crappie of which the vast majority were 10"-11". Only a few were under 10" and I also had a few at 12" but they were rather skinny and the biggest only went 15oz.
The weather was perfect for late August.
Most were caught casting on either Kalin's Money Jig or a Pearl BGBS with a few on Cajun Cricket and Blue/Pearl. Not too many on my two poles hanging over the side. Most crappie were caught 4'-7' down in water near 10' deep. The morning bite was a lot better than the afternoon bite. From 3:00-5:00 I only caught 3 crappie so I left.
I showed water temp at 75-78 and had the pleasure to meet doodle at the boat ramp.
