The past couple of days were good times with two old friends! We've known each other since middle school
and we all fish, but the last time all 3 of us fished together was 1968. Based on all the recent love from
LCR and Diascund Res., that's where I decided to take the guys.
LCR kicked out tail on Tuesday. Shellcrackers were the target, but our trip was a few days too late.
The spawn has ended and the 'cracker beds are empty. Windy conditions and my decision not to carry
minnows as a backup planturned the day into a boat ride with an occasional pike (up to 23".)
DR still loves me! My first fish yesterday was a 12.5" YP (7 consecutive DR trips with a citation of one species
or another.)
It didn't take long to find hungry specks...but the wind found us at about the same time. With SW gusts up to
20 mph, most of the day was spent in sheltered spots in 5 - 10 FOW--one of which delivered 140 silvers!
The size wasn't great, but we did cull out a dozen keepers, including this nice 14-incher.
Other spots added 20 - 30 fish of various species (crappie, YP, greenies, gar, CF, bream, pike) and kept us very busy all day!
Water conditions at LCR change very slowly, but DR was much muddier than my last trip there (2 weeks ago.)
Also, algae is growing in the shallows and globs of it are drifting across the lake. Water level is still down about 18"
and there's no clue why the level has been reduced and the pump house roped off. WT was low/mid 70s at LCR
and mid/high 70s at DR.

Sorry I mistook you for the AARP Cruise Ship when you guys pulled along side. Glad y'all had a good time fishing together. Nothing better than speding the day on the water with your old school buddies.
" SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER"
good to hear you can still find some fish there. Don;t think I will make another trip that way for awhile. Headed to OBX for the next 10 days for some offshore pullage. you guys gettem...
Great report.
